If you were watching the Tonight Show on July 11, 2005, you saw a picture of the hot up-and-coming band, Viva la Venus.
Their band photo was featured during the "headlines" segment by Jay Leno. The original article was featured in the Asheville Citizen Times.
Viva la Venus played a show at Fred's Speakeasy.
The show was sponsored by Go-Girls and featured three bands that had between 1 and 3 female members.
The headline read "These Women Rock" referring to the women in all the bands.
Of course, Viva la Venus's picture was large and right next to the headline.
Leno took the opportunity to suggest the long-haired, goatee-wearing male drummer was an unattractive woman.
Members were flattered that Leno found most of the band attractive and hope to prove that the headline is correct.
These women (and one man) really do rock. The photo from the paper was taken outside a club called the Handlebar in SC where the group had played a show.
Guitarist Susan Darney says, "the picture itself isn't the most flattering photo, but it does have a certain energy and people seem to love it."
The band doesn't know who sent in the newspaper article to Leno.
But they're glad that they did.
Darney said "friends were calling us to tell us that they saw us on TV on the promos for the Tonight Show.
We really had no idea we would be on."
The band found the skit entertaining and exciting.
They are looking forward to the time when they are able to appear in person on the Tonight Show.
Viva la Venus is based out of the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC area.
The members originate from PA, NC, and VA but now call the triangle their home.
The members are Wendy Brancaccio on vocals and guitars, Susan (Hauser) Darney on vocals, guitars, and bass, Mary Anne Barckhoff on bass, guitars, and backing vocals, and Trey McLamb on drums.
???The band is currently preparing to tour to support their latest CD "Forget the Fairy Tale".
Their first CD "The Never Ending Mending Story" included the track "Mystery" which was featured on Lifetime TV's "Strong Medicine".
Both CDs are available at http://www.cdbaby.com and at live shows.
For more information on the band or to check out upcoming shows, see their website at http://www.vivalavenus.com..

Teacher creates book "No, George, No! the RE-PARENTING of George W. Bush"
San Jose, CA (ContentDesk) May 10, 2004--The teacher who started a controversy by creating the Operation Hidden Agenda playing cards, which aimed to present an alternative point of view to the "Iraq's Most Wanted" playing cards is back and she has another lesson to teach."Last year, I created the Operation Hidden Agenda playing cards because I had a hard time finding the truth about the war.
After the war was declared officially over, I noticed the devastation that was all around us due to the war and to U. S. Policies. I was walking through Yosemite in October of last year, and the title of a book "No, George, No! The RE-PARENTING of George W.
Bush" came to me.
The story of a young boy named George who is taught important lessons in life by a Truth Fairy flowed easily while I began writing." says Kathy Eder, the creator of Operation Hidden Agenda playing cards and the soon-to-be released "No, George, No! The RE-PARENTING of George W. Bush.""I was turned down...

Call for Entries: The Manic Mommies Want Your Digital Holiday Card Outtakes
Boston, Ma. (ContentDesk) December 9, 2005 -- Coordinating outfits. Check. Haircut. Check.
Batteries in camera. Check. Tree up. Lights on. Fire in the fireplace.
Children enter stage left. OK, Mom says. Smile pretty. While it seems like an easy task, experienced parents everywhere know that capturing a single photo for the family holiday cardwhere all children are looking perfectly adorableis no simple feat. Across America, parents have likely spent the last few weeks wavering between bribes and threats, jumping up and down, waving silly toys and contorting their own faces in hopes of making little junior smile. The maternal desire to capture the perfect photo of your children at the holidays is quite remarkable, says Kristin Brandt, a writer and producer of the online web log and audio cast Manic Mommies.
When creating my own holiday card, I realized there must be countless parents out there doing the same thing: deleting dozens of photos where one child...

The Deal with DVD Duplication
What exactly is DVD duplication? I hear people talk about DVD duplication and I always assumed that just meant copying the DVD, but I never knew how to do it or how it worked exactly. It turns out that it is a legitimate process that should be taken seriously.
DVD duplication literally is the copying of optical media. What is generally meant when people talk about DVD duplication is the production of small quantities of DVDs from existing master copies to recordable DVD media.
If you have some sort of business or personal project that is going to require the use of DVD duplication, there are companies that can help. As you search for a DVD duplication company, you will likely be asked which kind of disc you need. I always thought that all DVDs are the same, but apparently they are not.
There is a difference between the DVD's used to manufacture small orders of DVD duplication versus larger orders, which are referred to as DVD replication. It is just a good idea to...

How to Waste Money and Annoy Potential Customers
Why do some companies bid on keywords for products they don't even sell? Or fail to provide the basic information people need to make the decision to buy? Here's a cautionary tale-- with a happy ending. Has this ever happened to you? I'm looking online for lamp shades. I go to Google and click on the top Sponsored Link in the right column: Expo.com. I'm taken to their "Lighting and Fans" page. There are 29 links in the left navigation, but no lamp shades.
So I do a keyword search. Products Found = 0. All I can do is wonder why they wasted my time and their money, and move on to the next ad. Close, but no cigar. Clicking on the second ad takes me to a home page with a "Shades" tab.
I click on that and arrive on a page with information about sizes and a link to the lamp shade collection. I start browsing and find one I'm interested in. The text instructs me to "Click on lamp image for detail." I guess they mean lamp shade image. I...
